Cupholders

The design of the Corrado follows German engineering philosophy in its purist form. German automobile manufacturers do not include items that could distract the driver from the primary task of driving. Mercedes, Porsche, and VW marketing place these items into the interior cabins of the cars for the sake of American consumers. Cupholders just aren't available in Europe.

The Stock Corrado does not make any consolation for holding Starbucks coffee cups. Therefore, one has to be creative in ones approach to introduce such items into the minimalist interior.
New Dimensions at one time sold these cup holders. It was intended for the interior of the BV2 Passat but worked very well in the Corrado. It was a fold out design which stayed out of the way when not in use. But was a competent cup holder when pressed into duty. These items vary in price and I still occassionally see them for sale on eBay. It's a nice consolation for us American drivers.

To install simply use the supplied screws to attach to the side of the center console on the passenger side. Its relatively sturdy and it matches the interior perfectly. It's as if it were designed to be there in the first place. The German engineers probably consider something like this a desecration to their minimalist design.
